Margaret Mitchell Long author of "The Long Trek to the Big Scrub" She was the wife of Harry Marlin Long son of Alonzo Long, oldest son of Reuben and Sarah Jane Bennett Long. Harry was b. about 1920.

Per Beckey Chaney: The Yearling was based on the stories Reuben and Sarah Jane's son, Calvin, told Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings.

The movie "The Yearling" was based on the stories Calvin told Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, when she stayed with the family in the now Ocala National Forest for 5 weeks. The book was named "The Trek into the Scrub".

"He is buried in Astor Park, Florida and by his headstone is a plaque that says immortalized by the writings of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings"

The ones I am close friends with are the grandsons of Calvin Long who was a
brother of Penelope Long Hiscock. I also knew the second wife of Olin
Hiscock, Mary. They married after Penny Long Hiscock died. They were not
divorced. Penelope is buried in the Long Cemetery in the Ocala National
Forest.
