From the second book listed above a Elizabeth Seamans Haviland:
In 1682-84 Robert, George, Thomas, and John Seamans were banished from England for being rebels in the Monmouth Rebellion. These Seamans were sent to the Barbados, and in 1685 the list of tickets granted out of the Secretary's office of the island of Barbados, among the names is Thomas Seaman in ship "Thomas and Sarah". They were from Chilton, England.
From Elizabeth M. Seamans, June 17 1905:
In Swansea, MA the name Seamans is called Simmons, and in many records is so written, they claim in Swansea that we descended from one Moses Symondides, who came in the ship Fortune in 1621, and settled in Plymouth, MA.
What ever the truth it seems more likely that our Thomas is the one from the ships' records arriving in MA. about 1685.
BIRTH His exact birth is not known but approximated. One source places is birth occuring in Swansea, MA while other accounts say that he was born in England.
It is claimed that the early descendents of Thomas and Susannah owned about all of Scituate and Foster, RI. They were all industrious, earnest people, and affliated with the Baptist Church.
Thomas was a school teacher, and a carpenter. Swansea MA is the birth place of all their children.
His three sons, Thomas , John, and James and their families moved to Scituate, RI between 1740 and 1746. Charles, Nathan, and Gilbert and their families settled in Nova Scotia, Canada.
DEATH: On 19 May 1716 Thomas gave his son John a Deed of Gift.
