My memories of Grandpa are not all pleasant. He farmed a large acreage for the area we lived in. It was classed as a six horse farm. He kept 6 mules of the biggest and finest he could afford. He smoked a pipe and usually looked somewhat dirty. He had minimal schooling, supposedly only 29 days. He could sign his name and do a very little figuring. In my early to middle teens I did much of his figuring, such as paying farmhands for the hours they worked. He appeared to have very little respect for us as grandchildren. We were useful for work and that's about all. He was probably 6 feet tall. In later years he had a small paunch. He was never friendly for me to talk to. His Sunday suit was an old blue serge suit, very shiny from wear. He always wore a hat outdoors. Although he used a few curse words they were just that-few.

My memory of Grandma Parris is her giving me some horehound candy which I did not like when Mama and I visited her in, I think 1927. She took it from a little corner cupboard with a dark curtain on it in the living room of the house where Mama grew up. She wore her hair in a bun up on the back of her head. I only remember that she wore a long skirt and an apron. Her hair was brown.

I am a descended of Jacob Parrish and Willie Davis Pittman
Their Daughter Margaret "Mollie" Ann Parrish married Spencer Phillips
They had a total of eight children. One who is my grandfather Ransom
Phillips (my grandfather is still with us though his health is poor at this
time)
You had mention that your wife is a descended of Joseph Jacob and Tempie
Parrish what is her connection?
I was comparing your information on the World Tree with my information:
I was unaware that Joseph Jacob Parrish was married twice I only knew of
Willie therefore I knew nothing about Tempie Atkinson and their children
Mary Jane, William, & John.
It seems as though in several cases some of my dates for some births and
deaths are different from yours. You had mention in the notes section under
Joseph Jacob Parrish that some of your information was from the family bible
if there is anyway I could get a photocopy of those pages I certainly would
appreciate it. That would be so wonderful!
Are you aware of the Parrish Family Cemetery in Kenly, NC?
