Paul’s mother died when he was 3, Helen was 6, but they had several older siblings. Paul and Helen were put in orphanages, sent to live with family, etc – I guess their father Frank couldn’t or didn’t want to take care of them. Frank soon remarried from best I can tell, and the family stories are that the step-mother treated Helen and Paul very badly. Helen ran away around 16 or so and lived on the streets. She may have tried to take Paul with her. At any rate, Helen ended up in NJ and I have found Paul in Florida, he and Thelma married pretty young.

McLEAN, Marjorie B., 81, of Richmond, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on May 13, 2010. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Benjamin F. McLean; her children, Gail M. Moore and husband, Herman W. Moore, and Sandra M. Trevillian; her grandchildren, Trey Gwaltney and wife, Robin, Andrea and Sean Moore, and Matthew and Benjamin Trevillian. Not only was she a loving, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, her life was filled with the love of many friends that were like family to her. She remained an active member of Christ United Methodist Church throughout her life in Richmond. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2010 at Christ United Methodist Church, 6818 West Grace St., Richmond, Va. A viewing and visitation will be held at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m. Flowers may be sent to Bliley Funeral Home, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church in her honor.

LeDUC, Kenneth Clayton 76, of Treasure Island, passed away Oct. 10, at Bay Pines VA Medical Center. A native of St. Petersburg, he was a 1951 graduate of SPHS. He received degrees from SPJC, Univ. of FL (BME with honors '58) and Univ. of Santa Clara (MBA '70). He was certified by the State of Florida as a Professional Engineer, General Contractor and Building Official. He spent 20 years of his career with G.E. in Gainesville, FL in various positions of engineering management and held 7 U.S. patents for G.E. He was active at various times in his life with the American Heart Association, Rotary, Kiwanis, and Elks and was a life member of the American Legion and Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. After his retirement, he coordinated numerous alumni reunion activities for his class at SPHS. An Army Signal Corps cryptographer and veteran of the Korean conflict, he will be interred at Bay Pines Veterans Memorial Cemetery. He is survived by his son, Brian LeDuc, of Apex, NC; and daughter, Mari Hamilton (Fred), of Gainesville, FL; and brother Bob LeDuc (Millie) of Brooksville, FL.

2010 OBITUARY Betty Jean Delaisse, age 83, of Chipley passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Washington Rehab and Nursing Center in Chipley.
She was born January 11, 1927 in St. Petersburg to the late Frazier and Virginia (McGuire) Clayton. Mrs. Delaisse was a former secretary with Holiday Inn, General Electric and Modern Trend Construction and had been a resident of Chipley for the past 11 years, coming from the Florida Keys. She was a member of the Sunnyhills Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Amos Delaisse; a daughter, Betty Jo Delaisse; and a sister, Charlotte Wiggins.
Survivors include three daughters: Darlene Buckbee and husband George of Chipley, Donna Jean Mayfield and husband Doug of Ft. Myers, and Susan Gragg and husband Kevin, also of Ft. Myers; one sister, Dorothy Gooravin and husband Richard of Lake Placid; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Swingle officiating. Cremation will follow.

Charlotte Wiggins of Lake Placid, formerly of Moore Haven, died Aug. 18, 2OO3, at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring. She was born in St. Petersburg Sept. 16, 1929.

Ms. Wiggins moved to Lake Placid in September, 1998 from Moore Haven where she was a grocery store manager.

Mrs. Wiggins is survived by five children, David Whidden and wife, Linda, of Glades County, Johnny Whidden and wife, Jan, of St. Cloud, Minn., Jeff Wiggins and wife, Kathy, of Hampton, Va., Virginia Arnold and husband, Ivan, of Moore Haven, and Jack Wiggins and wife, Mary, of Lake Placid; two sisters, Betty Delaisse and husband, Lacy, [Name should be Amos unless “Lacy” is a nickname] of Chipley, and Dottie Gooravin and husband, Dick, of Lake Placid; 16 grand-children, Jason Whidden and Jacob Whidden both of Moore Haven, Matt Whidden of Lake Placid, Tony Whidden of Moore Haven, Little Jeff Wiggins of Jacksonville.
