CENSUS: 1920 US Census of Ocala, Marion County, FL. Stephen owned a home, free of mortgage. He was a Trader of Horses. Living with him and his wife, Martha, were his daughter, Nona Clayton, 28, widow, and Nona's son, James T. Clayton, age 8. Son was actually named John Thomas Clayton.

BIOGRAPHY: OCALA (FL) STAR-BANNER, Thursday, 10 January 1952, contains a photo and reads: "Stephen B. Long, native Marion countian, was 100 years old Wednesday. He observed the day quietly with his family, which includes five generations, at his home at 713 East Franklin Street. Mr. Long was born near Lynne, Florida, the son of Gabriel and Betty Long. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Ocala and has been a deacon for 70 years. Among other interesting happenings during his long liftime, Mr. Long well remembers the time, as a small boy, he and his entire family were captured and interned in a prison camp of the Yankees at St. Augustine. Among his living descendants are four daughters, Mrs. T. C. Clayton, Mrs. C. G. Parker, Mrs. J. E. Whaley. and Mrs. J. R. Fort, all of Ocala, and two sons, S. R. Long, Ocala, and J. B. Long, Miami. Despite his great age, Mr. Long takes an active interest in things about him and his health continues good." An original copy of this newspaper article is located among the Collection of Beulah Holly Henderson in the Genealogy Section of the Ocala Public Library.
