Note: According to his father's will, "also my son Charly Hames has had his equal shear (sic) in land and do not intend him to have any thing more of mine." He appears in the 1830 census for Union County, but he also "went west". He died before the 1850 petition of the grandchildren because the petition mentions: "John Hames and Hannah Hames, children of Charles Hames, dec'd, a son of the testator. There were several minor children of said Charles Hames, dec'd. names unknown." Census records of 1850, 1860, and 1870 for Hardin County, Tennessee, and conversations with a decendant provided the names of Charles' children, all born in Tennessee. Hannah, Jane, and Cyrus are buried in the Hames Cemetary located about seven miles east of Savannah, Tennessee.
